Overview of MDinTouch Software

The MDinTouch service is designed and written using a set of technologies that provides clear value and benefits to our customers. These technologies were selected because they only require a very simple installation process, as well as highly reliable and secure services that you can count on every day.

The service can be segmented into client side software, and server side software. The client side software is the customers' interface or access points to the service. Where as the server side software executes the function requested through the client side software.

Client Side Software

The MDinTouch service can be accessed from either a regular web browser, or through three proprietary MDinTouch software clients, utilizing the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Slingshot - Sends the dictation voice files to the MDinTouch service
TouchType - Enables transcription of the report
Automate - Automatically prints/exports the transcribed reports
Javelin - Automatically transfer interface messages

The MDinTouch software clients are based on the .Net framework from Microsoft. The .Net framework provides the means to communicate remotely using secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTPS, the main protocol for encrypted communication on the Internet. Hence, it is very easy to implement the MDinTouch service.

The .Net framework is the latest technology from Microsoft and will continue to be improved by Microsoft. MDinTouch is looking forward to integrating these forthcoming .Net features by continuing to enhance the experience implementing and using the MDinTouch service.

Every MDinTouch software client can be upgraded completely "hands-off", through the use of the MDinTouch UpdateAgent. Medical transcriptionists, as well as healthcare customers, can have the latest version automatically, without any effort or distractions in running and managing your business.

Server Side Software

The MDinTouch service is essentially a large set of web services. They are developed using enterprise-class technology from vendors such as Oracle Corporation. A web service provides a particular functionality of the service.

Each specific web service exists on several computer servers at any given time, in a cluster configuration. A request from client side software is routed to the web service within the cluster that can satisfy the request in the shortest period of time. Clustering also provides fault-tolerance. The MDinTouch service as a whole can be fully functional even though a particular web service is out of production.

The web service design enables the MDinTouch service to provide virtually limitless scalability; additional services can easily be added to meet increased demand and growth.
